Navigating and Using the Higher Education Reference Models

- Nigel Foxwell

ABSTRACT

The collection of artefacts known as the Higher Education Reference Models has recently undergone a major new release, adding substantial improvements and adding Application and Technology Reference Model components.

This presentation will provide an overview of the complete set of model components, and a deep dive in how to navigate and use some of the newer elements.

Specifically, a discussion on the Application and Technology Reference Models and how they work together, and a review of key updates to the Data Reference Model will be explored.

It is hoped that this presentation will assist attendees to more fully understand the HERM suite and how they can apply it at their institution.

Designing Disruption - moving from adapting to driving

- Galan White & Jolyon Suthers

ABSTRACT

Higher education is in a state of flux, with new pressures but also great opportunities, both for institutions, and for collaboration bodies including CAUDIT.

For those wishing to be drivers in this new epoch, a combination of approaches gives us the ability to ‘design disruption’, rather than being at it's effect. We will show how:

1. The CAUDIT Business Capability Model, gives us a way to see the totality of capabilities within an institution.

2. The ‘University as a Platform’ perspective gives us new ways to conceive of the institution, and how to identify the capabilities that will be most critical for the coming era.

3. Change lever analysis, identifies the most effective approaches to improving performance across each of these critical capabilities, including the types of AI to deploy.

4. New ways to dynamically model our universities, enable us to test these change scenarios ‘in the lab’, and in real-time, to determine the most cost-effective way to transform for the world that is coming.

This session is more than just a presentation; it's an interactive exploration. Join a live case study that brings dynamic cost modelling to life and demonstrates the power of AI-driven transformation in higher education.
