Deliver Value Faster: Radical Re-design of the Business Case process

ABSTRACT 

The University of Auckland fell into a pattern of large Business Cases proposing large Strategic Programmes taking years to deliver value. Our top leadership gave us a very clear instruction to Deliver Value Faster, and we adopted an agile approach to getting there. 

This presentation recognises the pathology of our starting approach and describes the alternate reality we sought to create to replace it. 

We will talk about how we settled on the specific approach we used to create the new pattern, how the approach works and what problems it has encountered. 

Finally we will describe where we have got to and what is still in front of us on the To Do List.
