WINE TYPES IN AUCKLAND AND ON WAIHEKE ISLAND

Established in the 1990's by Lebanese, Croatian and English winemakers, the Auckland region is one of the oldest wine regions in New Zealand.

Waiheke Island produces some of the finest reds in the country. Intense syrah and bold cabernet blends grown exceptionally well in the Waiheke coastal terrain.

The warm, fertile plains of Kumeu in West Auckland produce crisp chardonnay and silk-like merlot.

Just north of Auckland the rolling hills of Matakana are home to fruity pinot gris and deep reds.
